Brief description of the project:

This urban studio project targeted the urban design of a master-plan and moved into the specifications of some of the various programs it holds. The project was a designed by the collaboration of two fifth year architects, Raha Milani and Narges Rowshanzamir. The project began at the master-plan scale, 1:2000 and it moved through several scales down to 1:500.

It contains a residential neighborhood of residentials in combination with retails and a clubhouse holding semi private functioned for both the public users and the residents. The scope of the studio allowed for two of the programs to be developed, hence the retails, the clubhouse and all the intermediate public spaces were designed. The project began with urban analysis of the site in terms of the history of the context, morphology, social, environmental, and perceptual aspects. Later, the schematic design lead into the uniqueness of the project, the water. The site also required a specific integration among the architecture and landscape. The concept of the master-plan was to have a sequential and continuous procession of public spaces and nodes by extending Al Qasba canal into the project’s retail bath as the main pedestrian axis in order to create a neighborhood for the residents.
